Here's
a brief description of what it takes to be a Mentor with True Hearts
Connection... Are you up to it?
ROLE First
and foremost, a mentor is a friend to the mentee.
RESPONSIBILITY Through
building of friendship, sharing of life and listening to the problems
encountered, provide guidance and inspirations to the mentees and
help mould them into persons of value to the society.
COMMITMENT Able
to commit for at least 6 months in this scheme on a regular weekly
basis, spending at least 2 hours every week with the mentee.
EXPECTATIONS We
want people with a genuine interest to help others improve their
lives and preferably with initiative, organisational skills and
leadership qualities. The prospective mentor should also be able
to perform duties under minimal supervision and be committed to
his/her work. He/She must also be a positive role model to the mentee.
TRAINING To
prepare you adequately for your role, a series of seminars and workshops
will be conducted, covering relevant topics like basic counseling
and effective communication skills.
REWARDS You
will be playing a vital role in transforming the life of a youth.
You will gain exposure to community service in terms of active participation
and organisation of community projects. Your communication, problem
solving, leadership and interpersonal skills will also be enhanced.
So you see, it is also about personal growth and development!
Our
scheme is recognized and supported by National Youth Council (NYC)
and National Youth Achievement Awards (NYAA) Board. Efforts of our

service. In addition, outstanding mentors may be nominated for any
activities or exchange programs organised by NYC or NYAA.
