The Annual Recruitment of student volunteers as Mentors in Victoria Junior College (VJC) was held on Wednesday, 13th January 1999. A multi-media presentation talk was given to interested JC1 students during VJC Interact Club's Tea Party by our Liaison Officer, Hazel See. Prior to this presentation talk, publicity materials such as our publication, posters, and brochures were largely circulated amongst the JC1 population.

Despite being tired from a day of lessons, approximately 100 students turned out for the talk, and many came forth to express their keen interest in signing up as Mentors. It was a pleasant surprise to see many eager individuals / groups of students asking many questions pertaining to mentoring.

After the presentation talk, there was a time of fellowship over the tea reception prepared by VJC Interact Club. Several students hesitated no further and filled up the mentoring application forms and submitted them on the spot.

On the closing date of Applications, which is 20th January 1999, we had recruited 36 Mentors who will undergo a one-month-long mentoring attachment program to their senior mentors. It is indeed a great encouragement to see so many of our youths willing to put in their time and effort to make a difference in another's life!
