Experience of Mentees

Denny, 14

Hi, it's me, Denny. Remember me? A mentee from Temasek.

Representing my group of mentees from Temasek Secondary, I would like to thank the group of mentors from Victoria J.C. for their help for the past one year. The mentors are kind, caring and friendly and they are always lending out their hands liked giving us lots of important ideas, advice and solutions to our problems which are lying out full on the Mount Everest and treating us like their very own brothers and sisters. All of my crew greatly appreciated the helps and warm feelings that the mentors have given us and I liked to thank them again. Lastly, all of my fellow mentees and I truly, madly, deeply wish the senior mentors good luck in everything they do in the future and getting good results for their 'A'levels. For the new mentors from Victoria J.C. and Tampines J.C. who have just joined our big family, good luck in every area of U and your future new mentees and all the best to all of U. THANK U.

Sok Ting, 14

When I knew that I am allowed to joined this programme, I find myself very lucky as some of my classmates do not have this chance. At first, I thought that mentoring is just about tutoring, but I was wrong.

My mentor, Angela, as well as my friend and sister, did not give me much pressure during our sessions. I feel very relaxed when she was teaching me. But I somehow feel that I let her down, because sometimes when she was helping me, I was thinking of something else. She encouraged me, answer all my questions and solve my problems without fail.

She was quite fierce fierce sometimes when I made her angry. Especially once when I called her to help me in my Maths sums at the last minute, I know she was furious. But she did helped me even though she had her own work to do and it was quite late at night already. Till now, I still feel bad.

She helped me in my schoolwork until my Mid-year examinations this year, although others have stopped their sessions. I would like to say a big "THANK YOU" to her for helping me in the past year. I hereby wish her good luck for her ‘A’ levels and all the best to her in whatever she does. And good luck to all mentors in their ‘A’ levels.
